Empire Falls
Empire Falls by Richard Russo follows Miles Roby, a man perpetually stuck in the small, decaying mill town of Empire Falls, Maine (much like It's a Wonderful Life).
This book was very well written and the depth of the characters really helped immerse the reader in the plot. Toward the end, I found it to pick up a little too quickly and the ending was pretty predictable, but overall it was a great book.
